Orca Day Nails

ESPAÑOL: En la vida hay muchas cosas que nos inspiran, pero a veces llegan a nuestra cabeza de formas inesperadas.
Ayer se celebró el Día Mundial de las Orcas, y me enteré por la cuenta de NatGeo que sigo en instagram. En seguida comencé a buscar fotos en la cuenta de Paul Nicklen, fotógrafo de esa organización, y supe en ese instante qué hacer.
Soy buzo certificado de aguas abiertas, y siento gran pasión por la naturaleza y sus contrastes, así que un alma como la mía sueña con ver en su ambiente natural a todas las especies animales del mundo.
El paisaje bajo el agua es misterioso, y como la luz solar pierde velocidad, incluso los colores son limitados, a pesar de que sepamos que allí están. Y las corrientes de agua agitan las algas y demás plantas del lecho marino como si fuera aire, y los cardúmenes se semejan a las bandadas de aves, y en tu traje de astronauta te vuelves uno más.
Tuve la oportunidad de visitar un maravilloso lugar llamado Blue Hole en el caribe colombiano, y en ese extraño paisaje en el que te sientes flotando sobre un agujero sin fin, divisé un tiburón que a lo lejos quiso saber quiénes éramos. Y con su prudente distancia y en cuestión de segundos, divisó a los turistas de las burbujas y se fue por donde había venido.
Fue la experiencia más fantástica que haya tenido hasta el día de hoy, y eso me lo recordó la foto de Paul Nicklen.
Qué oportunidad tenemos los humanos de transportarnos al lugar donde habitan los más maravillosos especímenes y verlos y aprender de ellos en su hábitat natural!
Y éste ha sido mi pequeño (realmente minúsculo) homenaje a esos fantásticos seres con los que compartimos la evolución.

ENGLISH: In life there are many things that inspire us, but sometimes come to our head in unexpected ways.
Yesterday was the World Orca Day, and I found out thanks to the account of NatGeo on instagram. Then I began to search for photos in the account of Paul Nicklen, photographer of that organization, and I knew at that moment what to do.
I am a certified open water diver, and I feel great passion for nature and its contrasts, so a soul like mine dreams of seeing in their natural environment all animal species in the world.
The underwater landscape is mysterious, and as sunlight slows, even the colors are limited, although we know they are there. And the streams waving algae and other plants seabed like air, and schools of fish resemble those flocks of birds, and in your space suit you become one more in the landscape.
I had the opportunity to visit a wonderful place called Blue Hole in the Colombian Caribbean, and in this place where you feel floating on an endless hole, far away I saw a shark who wanted to know who we were. And with its prudent distance and within seconds, it realized we werw the bubbles tourists and left the way he had come.
It was the most fantastic experience I have had until today, and that reminded me of Paul Nicklen photo.
What an opportunity for us humans to transport to the places where the most wonderful specimens live and watch them and learn from them in their natural habitat!
This has been my little (really tiny) homage to these fantastic beings with whom we share evolution.
